We carry the changes in our Calendar, but for those who may not pay close attention to those listings—and to make sure no one misses out on new issues or FDCs, I thought I would give you a quick summary here of the changes that were announced by the USPS and carried in our April 18th & May 9, 2008 issue of Mekeel's & Stamps.
Added to the schedule are the following issues:
• April 30, 42¢ Purple Heart, issued in Washington, D.C.
• June 7, 1¢ Tiffany Lamp in a water-activated gum coil of 3,000, to be issued at NAPEX.
• June 20, 42¢ Official Mail stamp coil of 100 and #10 Stamped Envelope, in D.C.
• July 15, 10¢ American Clock in a WAG coil of 10,000, in D.C.
The hand that giveth also taketh away—and giveth again. The Forever stamp that was supposed to be issued on June 6 was taken away from the NAPEX show, where it was supposed to be released (and moved up to May 12 in D.C.); however, instead the NAPEX people get the 1¢ Tiffany Lamp mentioned above and the $4.80 Mount Rushmore stamp (that was previously slated for release June 12 in Rapid City, S.D.).
Meanwhile, the $16.50 Hoover Dam stamp that was going to be issued June 12 at a site to be determined will be issued in D.C.—on June 20.
Plans have also been changed for the Betty Davis Legends of Hollywood issue. That was slated for September 10 in Boston, but the new USPS calendar just has September without a specific date, and the site is now to be determined instead of being stated as Boston, as previously planned.
On the other hand, Latin Jazz now has a date: September 10.
There also have been important site assignments, date changes, etc., most prominent are:
• July 16, Vintage Black Cinema.
• September 19, Alzheimer’s Awareness.
• All the Holiday stamps—still to be release at the Mega Event, but now on October 23 and 24 instead of the previous listing of October 30 and 31.
